Early Life
Born on July 6, 1946, in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, Sylvester Stallone is known as Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone. He is the older son of Jackie Stallone, an astrologer and dancer, and Francesco “Frank” Stallone Sr, a hairdresser of Italian descent. He also has a younger brother, Frank Stallone, who is both an actor and musician. Due to complications during childbirth, the lower left side of Stallone’s face was paralyzed, resulting in his distinctive “snarling” appearance and a slightly slurred way of speaking.
Due to his parents’ tumultuous relationship, Stallone spent part of his early childhood in foster care, with the couple eventually divorcing. For a time, he resided with his father in Maryland following the divorce.
