Born on March 25, 1965, in Nelsonville, Ohio, Sarah was the fourth of eight siblings. After her parents divorced, her mother, who was an elementary school teacher, and her father, an aspiring writer, raised her in relative poverty. Since 1997, Sarah has been married to Matthew Broderick. Together they share three children: a son named James and twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha. Before this marriage, she had a relationship with Robert Downey, Jr. from 1984 to 1991.

Real Estate

In March 2011, Sarah and Matthew purchased a townhouse in New York City for $18.995 million, subsequently investing millions more in renovations. They listed the property in 2012 for $24.99 million but ended up accepting $18.25 million, resulting in a significant loss considering their renovation costs.

In 2016, they made a significant investment of $34.5 million on two adjacent NYC townhouses, merging them into a single mansion featuring 14,000 square feet of living space, an additional 2,100 square feet of outdoor space, and 50 feet of street frontage.

While completing their ambitious property development in New York, they resided in a townhouse purchased in 2000 for $2.995 million, which they also renovated. They lived in this home primarily between 2000 and 2002. In January 2020, the couple listed this townhouse for $19 million, ultimately selling it for $15 million after a year on the market.

Additionally, they own two modest homes in the Hamptons’ Amagansett area, acquired in 2006 for a combined total of $6.6 million. Broderick and Parker also possess property in Ireland, where Matthew spent his childhood summers.
