The day after sharing the video on Instagram, Tekashi appeared on “TMZ Live,” where he was directly questioned by Harvey Levin about how he could be showing off so much cash while also telling a judge he was broke. Here’s what was said during the exchange:

“So you owe like a million bucks in restitution, and I know you have told a judge that you just didn’t have it.“

His co-host added:

“Right, and I believe your attorney mentioned you might need to file for bankruptcy.“

Harvey continued:

“But then you’re dumping two million dollars. Are you not a sitting duck for that money to be seized?“

Early Life

Daniel Hernandez, known as Tekashi69, was born on May 8, 1996, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. His mother hails from Mexico, while his father is Puerto Rican. He did not have a relationship with his father until the age of nine, believing for much of his childhood that his father was deceased. In truth, Daniel Sr. was incarcerated due to his heroin addiction.

Later, Daniel Sr.’s father would assert that the mother’s family obstructed his attempts to see Daniel Jr., even going to the extent of tearing apart the letters he dispatched from prison.

The family’s financial situation was challenging, particularly following the tragic shooting of Daniel’s stepfather on the doorsteps of their home in 2010 when Daniel was just 14.
